Welcome to my wee blog. This is all very new to me but as my mother used to say:

"You might as well be oot the world as oot the fashion" - so here goes...

Greetings from Cape Town

We arrived in Cape Town with 20 copies of my new book of short stories Voices From The Cape tucked inside our suitcases. My better half insisted we should take at least 50 but I was terrified we would be arrested for "book smuggling" and I did not fancy seeing the inside of a South African prison.

However, the book seems to be going down well. Paul gave a copy to the owner of the flat we are renting - his reaction - jings, crivens, help my boab. He loved it and wanted to buy my entire stock as Christmas presents. So here I am sitting on the balcony doing an impression of a real author signing them.

For my 60th birthday (I should say 40th as I am sure you all know 60 is the NEW 40) my school pal Jane bought me a set of C.D.' s entitled Fun From the Fifties. We have just driven along Chapmans Peak, probably the best road in the world, singing to Rock Around the Clock, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog etc. etc. However, The Platters version of The Great Pretender will never better my beloved Freddie Mercury.

Talking of roads - this is a message to everyone living in Scotland

South Africa - allegedly a Third World country...
